Oval flask set in silver-gilt mounting. One of the sides of flask displays a painted enamel scene of a woman wearing a tunic and stola who is placing a crown of flowers on the head of a young man seated at her feet. On the other side is the picture of a flaming altar with doves and a quiver, all symbols of love. The hinged stopper is decorated with a Cupid. The cagework, silver-gilt mounting is intricately sculpted with interlacing. This flask is characteristic of production from Limoges during the 1850’s and revisits porcelain themes from the 18th century.
