Additional information

Gold, cylindrical case for wax with lavender-blue enamel panels. Intricate geometric patterns are etched in the gold and covered with translucent enamel that leaves the pattern visible. The four octagonal panels are framed with bands of opaque, white enamel and friezes of laurel leaves highlighted with green enamel and interspaced with red enamel points that imitate precious stones. The upper part is decorated with a floral motif and highlighted with enamel. This type of case was used to store a stick of wax that would be melted and then pressed to create seals. A monogram is still present on the end of the case. French craftsmanship from the Louis XVI period.
