Additional information

Pair of amphora-shaped porcelain vases with anthropomorphic handles resting on a rectangular black marble base. The neck, handles and base of each vase are painted in gold. The body features an astonishing polychrome decoration with arches. The decoration combines floral friezes, lyres and laurel wreaths. The decoration is underlined by decorative motifs in burnished gold, contrasting with the bright gold of the vase necks. The antiquisite motifs on the body are repeated on the handles or the Roman helmeted heads completing the composition. Circa 1815-1820.
