Pear-shaped seal in mother-of-pearl and gold. The mother-of-pearl handle is embellished with stylized rinceaux. The gold seal is ornamented with rinceau and stylized flowers on a studded background. The intricacy of the craftsmanship allows for plays of light between the polished and studded gold. The seal on the bottom features a double crest topped with a crown. This seal is characteristic of the Restauration period where a whole industry in mother-of-pearl arose and decorated numerous decorative objects during the early 19th century.
