Additional information

Rectangular, gold and enameled vinaigrette with a hinged lid. The hinged lid is decorated of symmetrical foliage motifs left in reserve on a background of black enamel and white enamel. The lid opens on an openwork grill. The grill was used to hold a sponge soaked in bergamot vinegar or another essence. Circa 1820-1830, Charles X. Some wear.
