Charles X white opaline glass. The glass is decorated with a scene painted in grisaille representing on both sides of a palm tree a young couple embraced protected by a veil, followed by a dog and the other a man in costume of the 18th century. The scene is set near a river.
An inscription is present below the scene: "Childhood of Paul and Virgine".This scene is inspired by the work of Bernardin Saint-Pierre whose romantic novel was fashionable in the early 19th century
