A rectangular casket with its key in gilt bronze on four scroll feet underlined with scrolling foliage. The lid and body of the box are decorated with porcelain plates illustrating bouquets of flowers composed of roses, pansies, tulips on a white background and celestial blue. The casket, finely chiseled is decorated with garlands of flowers, foliage. On the lid, two cherubs used for prehension play the flute.
The casket has kept its key and the interior is in blue velvet.
This casket is characteristic of the historical style that develops under the Second Empire. Indeed, Empress Eugenie, a fervent admirer of the Louis XVI style, refurnished and redecorated many imperial residences, thus influencing the decorative arts. This box is inspired by the production of Sevres 18th century.
