The removable lid is decorated with an oval medallion depicting two young women dressed in antique in a landscaped background and surrounded by Roman ruins. The women, one of whom is kneeling, stand near an altar dedicated to Venus. This altar is surmounted by a putti and receiving garlands of flowers offered by young women.
