Early 19th century Gold and mother-of-pearl  Vinaigrette.

Rectangular vinaigrette in gold and mother of pearl. The hinged lid is decorated with a monogram E.L and finely chiseled. The inside of the vinaigrette is the interior is entirely lined with gold and opens reveal an openwork grill that is intricately pierced, chiseled and adorned with a flower basket. This grill was used to hold a sponge soaked in vinegar with bergamot or another essence.
