Additional information

Rectangular writing supplies case with a slightly tapered base and gold mounting.The gold panels of the case are decorated with mother-of-pearl. A button serves to open the hinged lid which bears the inscription, Souvenir d’Amitié (Souvenir of Friendship). The body of the case features two oval medallions On one side is a young women in 18th century dress ans in the other side a young shepherdess in 18th century costume. The gold cage frame is finely worked and has a decor of zigzags and stylized flowers. A hidden system opens the medallions with a push button. This system probably allowed to hide the portraits of the loved one.The interior of the case contains writing supplies including an ivory tablet with a gold rivet, a crayon. Eighteen century style.
