Oval miniature on ivory featuring a man in a black suit and orange jacket. He set  is set on a monochrome, brown background. Fine touches of paint allow a modeled effect with shadows treated in bluish tones. On the reverse an inscription "David Schickler".
David Schickler (1755-1818) is one of the sons of a banker and founder of the Schickler bank. The family will be ennobled. He married Henriette Fischer. The miniature is set in gilted-bronze frame.
