Additional information

Pair of blue opaline bowls decorated with a frieze of daisies and forget-me-nots, painted in dark blue, ocher, and gold, with gold bands. The delicate decoration is caracteristic of Jean-Baptiste Desvignes’s 1820’s production. During this time, Jean-Baptiste Desvignes found a way to paint on opaline crystal and glass. He used only vegetable-based colors that he affixed to the opaline crystal. The tones, always matte, were limited to dark blue and red. The gilding dominated, using patterns of palmettes, flowers, and garlands. Light wear to the gold. Circa: 1820.
