Rectangular box in blown and chiseled opal crystal. This blue opaline, sometimes called "linen blue" or "bleu d'empois" has a size "in bamboo point". The cut corners are in "diamond point". The opaline is set in a gilt bronze frame decorated with stylised motifs. The box is decorated with a finely decorated lock entrance with a crown of flowers crossed by arrows and surmounted by scrolls. The quality of this box’s opaline and the intricacy of its gilt bronze decoration is representative of objects produced during the first half of the 19th century. Chip on the inside at the level of the lock. Circa: 1820-1830.
