Additional information

Round gold and enamel box. The removable lid is decorated with a polychrome enamel medallion enhanced with gold spangles representing Cupid holding a torch in his hands, the symbol of Hymen. It is set on an antique altar and surrounded by rose bushes. A motto underlines the sentimental nature of this box: "Here is your master". This central medallion is surrounded by a sheet of royal blue glass that covers a sheet of guilloché leaf with bands imitating enamel, revealing guilloché work on gold. The same work can be seen on the frame and back. The gold cage mount and medallion frame are decorated with stripes and friezes of interlacing roses in different shades of gold. The inside of the box is entirely lined with blond tortoiseshell. Louis XVI period.
One stain on the base.
