Additional information

Pair of oval miniatures on ivory depicting two children from the Restoration period. The first child wears a brown jacket that opens at the front, revealing a white shirt adorned with a silky blue bow. His face is framed by large curls. This portrait stands out against a pink and blue cloudy background. The second child, wearing a garnet velvet suit and white lace collar, also stands out against a cloudy background. His face is more elongated and he also has a hairstyle with large curls. There are a few small areas of missing paint in the lower left corner.
The gilt bronze frames are topped with a ribbon and rose garland motif. Both miniatures are protected by glass. The high quality of the execution is evident in the small strokes. The children's eyes are lively, with white highlights to accentuate the sparkle of their pupils. They are probably two children from the same family.
A few small chips in the lower left of the painting.
