Additional information

A rectangular snuffbox with rounded corners in yellow gold. The lid and base are adorned with a guilloché pattern featuring interlaced motifs, each centred on a flower. A chiselled frieze of leaves, flowers and palmettes against an amati background—alternating between matt and polished surfaces—bears witness to goldsmithing of the highest quality. The sides feature the same decoration, combining guilloché panels with finely engraved borders. The lid is hinged, revealing a plain, carefully polished interior, characteristic of luxury snuff boxes.
Paris, 1798–1809.
Silversmith: Augustin-André Héguin, admitted to the guild in 1785.
