Additional information

Large flat mesh bracelet. The mesh is finely chased with alternating stylised motifs, creating a play of light. Enamelled gold clasp decorated with three-lobed leaves set in a royal blue enamel background. The bracelet is adorned with a blue enamelled gold oval medallion and a hinged openwork cover to protect a miniature on ivory. The cover bears a monogram. 
The ivory miniature depicts a young man in bust form standing out against a monochrome background, wearing a black suit and bow, a white shirt and sideburns. The miniature is signed BOST. The back of the miniature is made up of plaited hair.

Melanie Bost, active between 1837 and 1852. A pupil of Aubry, she exhibited at the Salon between 1837 and 1852. She was born Lebel and married Bost. She lived at 12 rue pot-au-fer in Saint Sulpice in 1841 and 1852.
